Shockwave therapy is a proven effective treatment for persistent tendon and bone problems that do not respond to conventional therapy. Pulsed pressure waves stimulate blood flow and metabolism in the injury area, jump-starting the recovery process.
In shockwave therapy, pressure waves are directed at the painful area via a treatment head. These pressure waves reach the injury site and increase blood flow and metabolism in the damaged tissue, stimulating the body's self-healing capacity.
After a physical examination, and if necessary supplemented with ultrasound imaging, we determine whether shockwave is suitable for you. We then discuss whether it will be combined with dry needling, massage or exercise therapy. A treatment course typically consists of 4–5 sessions, and you often experience pain reduction after just one treatment.
The key benefits: shockwave works quickly, targets the cause of the complaint, avoids injections or surgery, and has minimal side effects. It is particularly effective for chronic complaints that do not respond to other therapies.

Chronic heel spur complaints, Achilles tendon problems and plantar fasciitis respond excellently to shockwave, even when conventional therapy has had insufficient effect.
Persistent tendon complaints around the elbow that have lasted more than 3 months and do not respond to regular physiotherapy.
Shockwave can be used for Dupuytren's contracture (cord in the palm) and trigger finger to reduce tissue adhesion and improve function.
Chronic shoulder complaints and calcifications in the affected tissue can be resolved or significantly reduced with targeted shockwave treatment.
Jumper's knee, patellar tendon complaints, trochanteric bursitis and iliotibial band friction syndrome (IT band) in athletes and active individuals.
Shin splints and long-term back and neck pain where complaints are embedded in muscles and tendons respond well to shockwave.
Shockwave is also effective for spasticity and muscle spasms resulting from stroke, MS, congenital brain conditions or (partial) spinal cord injury.
We begin with a thorough intake and physical examination to determine the nature and severity of the complaint. When in doubt, ultrasound is used for precise diagnostics.
The therapist applies gel to the problem area and directs the shockwave device at it. Frequency and intensity are adjusted to your complaint and tolerance.
Immediately after treatment, lasting pain relief and improved mobility develop. The treated area may briefly feel slightly red, slightly swollen or bruised. This is normal and a sign that the tissue is actively responding.
We provide you with specific exercises to support recovery and prevent recurrence.

Answers to the most common questions about Shockwave Therapy
During treatment you may experience a pounding or throbbing sensation on the treated area. This can be temporarily uncomfortable but is generally well tolerated. After the session the area may be tender for 24 to 48 hours. The intensity is always adjusted in consultation with you.

“Kind and attentive man, even though physio massages do hurt a little of course. Knows when something is beyond his scope — such as a herniated disc that cannot be resolved through physiotherapy — and is honest about it. Great guy!”
“Due to my ADHD I find it very difficult to keep up with exercises at home. In the past I had become enormously frustrated with physiotherapy and had almost given up. Thanks to Menno I have regained that confidence. He is very good at keeping it fun and challenging and is able to work around my limitations. Because of that I genuinely enjoy going to him and I am seeing noticeable results!”
“I am so glad to have found Menno! He thinks along really well, has a lot of knowledge and I can usually get an appointment quickly. Highly recommended!”
