Ultrasound (also known as musculoskeletal ultrasound or sonography) is used to make more precise diagnoses. The specialist physiotherapist uses an ultrasound device to create images of the injury. These images enable a more accurate diagnosis and a more targeted treatment, resulting in more effective treatments and fewer sessions.
Ultrasound is a diagnostic tool and therefore not a treatment in itself. When the physiotherapist wishes to confirm their suspicions, they take an ultrasound scan based on the intake interview and physical examination. This allows them to make a diagnosis and draw up a treatment plan accordingly. During or after the treatment trajectory, a follow-up scan can be taken and compared with the earlier images to accurately monitor progress.
During ultrasound, tissues such as tendons, muscles, bursae and ligaments are imaged using inaudible sound waves. The sound waves are captured via a transducer that is moved over the skin. Ultrasound is completely safe and not harmful to health. Menno Wennekers became certified in ultrasound diagnostics in 2020.

Tears or damage to muscle tissue are clearly visualised, enabling an accurate prognosis and targeted treatment.
Tendon tears, tendinopathy and degenerative changes in tendons are assessed in detail for targeted and effective treatment.
Bursitis is clearly visible on ultrasound, which helps in making the correct diagnosis and choosing the optimal treatment.
Structural abnormalities in joints, capsule damage and inflammation are accurately visualised for a complete diagnostic overview.
Tennis and golfer's elbow, cysts around joints and other local fluid accumulations are clearly visualised for targeted treatment.

“Kind and attentive man, even though physio massages do hurt a little of course. Knows when something is beyond his scope — such as a herniated disc that cannot be resolved through physiotherapy — and is honest about it. Great guy!”
“Due to my ADHD I find it very difficult to keep up with exercises at home. In the past I had become enormously frustrated with physiotherapy and had almost given up. Thanks to Menno I have regained that confidence. He is very good at keeping it fun and challenging and is able to work around my limitations. Because of that I genuinely enjoy going to him and I am seeing noticeable results!”
“I am so glad to have found Menno! He thinks along really well, has a lot of knowledge and I can usually get an appointment quickly. Highly recommended!”
